Party before leaving

Eating hotpot and drinking with friends brings me a lot of fun. My friend graduated from OU this spring and she is going to leave for an internship in Shanghai( Part of China) next week. She cried on party. I think that feeling is kind of complicated. Spending three years here in OU and making friends became part of our life. Staying in the small town makes life simple. She get used to living in the town. After graduated, she have to start her new lifestyle and encounter all kinds of challenges in a big city. At party, we laughed and talked about our dreams and plans. That night is memorable.

Well, I agree that if you don't have it, it doesn't matter much what else you have. Love is necessary but sometimes you will find love are luxuries. 
Some people get married before 30 years old, and some others may get married when they are at middle age. However, there are still few people who cannot get a chance to find their real love or they miss it.

Fun in the Ohio State Fair

This past weekend I had a great time with my friend in the Ohio State Fair. It was way too crowded there though. We could not even find a place to park our car. I have never had this feeling except on Thanksgiving...It seemed that there are two parts on the fair. One part is concert, and another part is for theme park. At first, we spent 60 dollars for both of us to purchase tickets of concert. My friend and I have never been to any concert before, so we were really excited being there. The band name is Foreigner. We had no idea who they are but we are sure that they must be very popular before because they have a lot of fans at middle age. We like their music and tried to sing with their music.
 Then, we went to the theme park. Ferris wheel and a lot of games, food and people there. That was really good. But the food was really expensive. We wished to play more games and have more food but we did not have enough money with us. It was around 10pm and we had to drive back to Athens...I wish I could join the fair next year.love it!! always memorable!^.^

From the film we watched, I could feel how influential society constructs ideas about masculinity and femininity. Media construct and influence our perceptions about masculinity and femininity.

The film explores many distinguishes about postures of masculine and femininity which captured from magazines and advertisings. Masculine should be featured by dominant and powerful. However, feminine should be featured by non-powerful, weak.  Feminine always displayed by touching face or twist head, or bite finger or hug oneself. Masculine often showed by displaying strong muscles.  Hence, your performance deciphers your gender identity.

This film actually reminds me of another videos I watched in my gender and communication class. That video called tough guise. It reveals many gender issues which are somewhat similar to this film we watched in class. 

Generally, I think this is an interesting film. It shows gender displays featured by media. But I do not agree that women are powerless, decorative, submissive. I think women play a very important role in today's society. Just take a few minutes and think about our female friends around us, then we will all agree that women can be powerful and independent. 

Reflection about the film

From the movie, we saw normal masculinity and femininity featured in many magazine cover. I guess that is how sex code or gender code displayed. In people's mind, humans' behavior are varied by their sex or gender. Males and females body language are different. However, sometimes females can break their gender roles. They are featured as strong, powerful ladies.
